These bikinis will brighten up your summer: that’s the promise of the two young Gallura-based founders of LALANÀ, the most original swimwear brand to grace recent Sardinian summer seasons.
This men’s and women’s swimwear line is strikingly “Made in Sardinia”, with patterns inspired by traditional designs from Aggius, the Gallura village famous for its textile art, handed down from generation to generation of local women.
Simona Chessa and Alice Corda create the motifs for their collections on the loom: together with weavers from the village, they select interlacing patterns and matching shades, creating designs to be reproduced on soft fabrics, all made in Italy, for maximum comfort and an excellent fit.
The result is a line of elegant and original swimwear, with bikinis and swimsuits featuring plunging necklines for her, and extremely distinctive shorts, with refined prints in quick-dry materials for him.
The process has also been applied to cotton and microfibre beach towels, decorated with intertwining prints in bright colours, giving the appearance of classic Sardinian rugs, but luxuriously soft to the touch.
New for 2021 are Le Pochettine: a mini-clutch produced in two versions, with a button or zipper, perfect for the beach or to accessorise an ethno-chic summer look.
The Lalanà Bikini collection is easy to find via the new online shop (lalanabikini.com) or the showroom that has just opened on the main street of Aggius, just over half an hour’s drive from anywhere on the the Costa Smeralda.
